Bedding Boxes and Containers

A bedding box is used to carry bedding materials. Bedding boxes are typically made of heavy-duty steel. They feature a rugged steel welded frame, a hardwood inner core, and 1/4-inch steel plate sides and ends. They come with lifting/pulling eyes and a heavy-duty drag bar for easy handling. They range in size from three to 18 cubic yards.

During transportation, the bedding box is secured to a flatbed trailer or a truck body using D-rings attached to the ends. These D-rings are designed to be securely fastened to the bedding box’s proximal and distal end frames. This allows the box to be lifted by a forklift.

United Rentals offers bedding containers with tapered ends to allow excavators better control. These containers come in five-yard to twelve-yard sizes and can also be known as “rock boxes.” They feature low profiles for filling and top frames with an inner hardwood core. They are also designed to handle a variety of site materials.

The containers can include a bottom plate, a side plate, and wing plates. The side plates are affixed to the end frames and are connected to one another through angle members. The wing plates are preferably coextensive with the side plates and provide rigidity for the box.
